JOB SUMMARY:
The O&M Facilitator will undertake planning and implementation of O&M/Sustainability strategies to ensure continued benefits of WASH services during and after exit. The main work of the 4africa’s O&M Facilitator is to ensure the sustainability of the water points and their management structures working with and through local structures such as Water User Committee, Community Based Organizations (CBO), and VHTs/Cluster Leaders among others. Generally, this position ensures Water points remain functional during and after exit.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Spiritual Leadership

- Ensure ministry or spiritual activities is a priority during health promotional activities.
- Model a high standard of personal Christian leadership and integrity through lifestyle and professional relationships.
- Participating in, and occasionally leading, daily Christian devotions prior to the start of each workday.
- Influence EAM’s culture to be one of transparency, excellence, and generosity of spirit.
- Demonstrating and sharing the love of Christ to the people we serve.
- Conducting yourself in a professional manner both on and off duty and modeling Christianity to your fellow coworkers and the communities we serve; demonstrating and sharing the love of Christ to the people we serve.
Strategic Program Delivery
- Encourage and facilitate sustainability programs initiated/developed EAM. Foster and coordinate new ideas and concepts for sustainability programming themes to the community and identify materials and resources to supplement, and expand existing sustainability programming.
- Follow–up of O&M fee collection.
- Carry out initial site surveys of proposed new communities.
- Distributes and provides instructions for the completion of applications for new communities.
- Regular follow-up of water management structures to ensure they are complying with MOUs.
- Conduct monthly support visits with the WUCs/CBOs.
- Ensure each WUC collects at least $150 for maintenance annually.
- Communicate to the O&M/ Sustainability Coordinator any need for rehab or repair for projects in communities that are under warranty.
- Guide the communities to set water periodic water user fees/tariffs.
- Help mobilize the community to participate in the EAM WASH programs.
- Follow up on the functionality and maintenance of the water sources where necessary.
- Work directly with local community leaders, church leaders, school leaders, and community members to form WUCs.
- Ensure that all WUCs have by-laws adopted by the users as governing their water points.
- Help in the process of maintaining an up-to-date surveillance log /database of water sources.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least a diploma in social sciences or any other relevant field.
- The post holder must have a minimum of 2 years working with a community or large group of people

- Proficiency in spoken.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle
- Fluency in spoken Luo
