Job Description/Requirements
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to continue growing our engineering team in Uganda as a best in class technology team in service of our clients and mission. You are a great fit if you've built or led the development of an entire product line or business in the past from prototype to production. You’re comfortable as an individual contributor and have experience leading a team as either a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager. You have a belief in the power of an engineering team to drive scalable impact across an organization and a keen sense for how to help those in your organization grow as people and as engineers.
What you'll do,
- Build a strong expertise and understanding of our tech stack through rotations within our product pods including work on our: Mobile App (React Native + Django REST API)
- Internal Underwriting and Loan Management Tools (React + Apollo + Graphene + Django)
- Additional Backend and Data Systems (Django + RQ)
- Deployment and Ops (AWS + Terraform)
- Provide Day-to-day technical guidance and decision making support to unblock product and development teams including
- Technical roadmap development
- Technical consultation for product teams o Technical reviews and code reviews
- Work closely with our CTO and other product and development leaders to build the best product development organization and culture in Uganda
- Lead team building, mentoring and training of the technical team in Uganda
- Lead technical recruitment efforts for the development team in Uganda
Qualifications,
- You have 6+ years of web app or mobile full-stack development resulting in strong technology fundamentals (web architecture, data modeling, front end development) and experience bringing a product to market
- You have 2+ years in the capacity of a Founder/Tech Lead/Engineering Manager
- You have led a hiring process as the hiring manager for at least one position
- You have managed at least one employee through significant career development
