Data Scientist Advisor (Portfolio & Load Analytics) Requisition ID: Location: Houston, TX, US, ​​As a valued member of the Portfolio and Load Analytics team in Houston, TX; the Data Scientist Advisor will have the opportunity to engage in operations pertinent to load and revenue forecasting, including but not limited to forecast systems management, statistical profile/load modeling, report development, risk management and portfolio analytics. You will work closely with portfolio managers in hedging, trading, and related energy position, and risk balancing activities. ​ ​Integrating into the Portfolio and Load Analytics team as a Data Scientist Advisor is a huge opportunity for you to potentially develop and work on forecast modeling and IT maturation: ​Forecast modeling: Regressions, Linear/Non-Linear, Neural networks, Bottoms-up and Top-Down Methodologies ​IT maturation: SAS, SQL, Dataiku, Python, and Power BI report automation ​ ​This position will report to the Senior Manager, Portfolio and Load Analytics and will sit in the Houston, TX office. This role is eligible for the hybrid work schedule in-office and work from home.​ ​​What you’ll do:​ ​​The successful candidate is responsible for delivering timely and accurate operational electricity load and revenue forecast products in support of stakeholders (i.e., portfolio managers, risk management, traders, settlements, and billing), developing and improving upon profile/load models to achieve forecast accuracy, and providing ad-hoc analyses as needed. ​ ​Deliver Forecasts to Stakeholders: ​Be in direct contact with portfolio managers to convey forecast views, assumptions, and changes ​Be involved in end-to-end daily forecasting operations, from input data gathering to system operations to reporting ​Develop in SAS for process automation, data analysis, and reporting needs ​Use SQL skills to analyze and manipulate data in large databases to gain insight into forecasts ​ ​Load and Profile Modelling: ​Refine existing load and profile models ​Develop load and profile models to implement into the forecast systems/processes ​Use knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques to achieve improved forecasts and backcasts as compared to settlements ​Work with IT team for model implementations to production processes and environments ​ ​Support Business Initiatives: ​Be a subject matter expert in data inputs, modelling, forecasting, and internal systems ​Be involved in cross-departmental projects ​Provide ad-hoc analyses across the business ​Monitor markets trends, regulatory landscape, current risk levels and exposures, and other relevant sources of impacts ​​ ​​What you bring:​ ​​As a valued member of the Portfolio & Load Analytics team, you will possess a unique blend of business acumen and statistical/technical know-how. ​ ​Education and professional background: ​Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required with a Quantitative background preferred (E.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Technical Business) ​Minimum of seven years of work experience; retail electricity experience preferred ​Proven experience of at least five years as a data analyst and/or modeler ​ ​Technical skills: ​Knowledge of statistics and modelling (e.g., regression, linear/non-linear, and neural network) ​Good technical skills with (SAS, SQL, Python) to develop autonomous prototypes and models, with the ability to manipulate large data sets ​Knowledge of forecasting systems, processes and methodologies would be preferred ​Experience in Commodity Markets is preferred ​ ​Power skills: ​Collaboration work together as a team, with the ability to contribute positively in a collaborative environment ​Demonstrated ability to identify problems, take ownership, and take initiative to drive a resolution, even in the face of obstacles ​Resourcefulness, ability to use a variety of tools, data sources, and systems; and have an inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources ​Demonstrated ability to manage, manipulate, analyze, and solve problems using large quantities of data​ ​​Additional Information/Conditions:​ ​​Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future ​Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing ​Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies ​While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions ​The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate ​Ability to meet highest attendance requirements ​Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally ​Ability to manage multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy ​Ability to use a company computer, calculator ​Could involve some lifting / up to 35 lbs ​Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job ​Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with the needed assistance to perform the essential functions ​Eligible for a hybrid schedule consisting of in-office and work-from-home opportunities ​ ​Why ENGIE?​ ENGIE North America isn’t just participating in the Zero-Carbon Transition, we’re leading it!
