POSITION: COST ACCOUNTANT

STATION: NAMANVE

REPORTING LINE: CFO


 

The Cost Management Accountant shall be responsible for product costing, inventory management, corporate budgeting and budgetary control, cost management and management reporting. These roles converge to Finance Business Partner who is expected to be independent, objective, thorough and adept people influencer

1.      Product Costing, Manufacturing, and pricing-  full ownership over the company product costing and pricing process

a)     Administer company costing system in the ERP, ensuring integrity and accuracy of data at all times

b)     Administer company product manufacturing module in the ERP, ensuring appropriate controls are observed in job opening, completion and closure processes. All BOMs (Bills of Materials) are accurate- in terms of quantity, cost and positioning

Ensure pricing of company products is in line with approved policy at all times

2.     Inventory Management- custodian of the inventory ledger. Assume ownership of controls governing inventory movement- both ERP and physical

a)     Goods in Transit (GIT) Account – administration, accurate and timely calculation of the Net Landed Costs

b)      Coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual stock counts, Work In Progress (WIP) valuation, reconciliation, and investigation of variances for corrective action

 

3.     Budgeting and Budgetary Control – Custodian of the budgeting and budgetary control function.

a)        Coordinate preparation of annual corporate budgets – origination to approval

b)        Monitor daily activities such as purchases to ensure costs are within approved budgets

c)         Prepare variance analysis reports (Actual vs Budgeted performance) and follow up with budget owners for remedial action

d)        Liaise with the line managers to find identify areas of wastage with recommended remedial measures

e)         Value for Money in Procurement decisions – get involved in procurement processes to ensure that the company gets the best quality for lowest price in the market

f)         Liaise with the line managers to identify opportunities for automation of manual processes in order to attain maximum efficiencies in the internal company processes

 

4.     Management Reporting – Fact based information toSupport Management decision making.

a)     Prepare periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly) management reports; key amongst them – Production Cost and Margin analysis reports

b)     Prepare ad-hoc management reports as and when demanded

c)      Assist CFO in preparation of standard end month reports and board packs

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Business-related field

·         Professional qualification in CPA/ ACCA/ CIMA (Complete)

·         At least four (4) years working experience in Manufacturing Environment- as a Cost or Management Accountant

·         Working knowledge of Oracle / SAP ERP System is required

·         Ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details and remaining organized and focused
