Job Summary

The Accounts receivables coordinator is responsible for the implementation and adherence to the Group Credit Policy, maximizing cash intake and minimizing Expected credit loss (formally called bad debt) exposure on debtors while operating within the credit policy by making the best commercial judgments on customers thus maximizing the company’s profitability.

Position: Accounts Receivables Coordinator

Direct supervisor: General Ledger Accountant

Place of work: Kampala, Uganda

Type of contract: Open term contract, pending successful completion of the probation period.

Preferred starting date of the selected candidate: October 1ST 2022


Profile of the candidate

Academic Qualifications

University Degree in Finance or Accounting. Postgraduate professional qualifications in accounting such as CPA or ACCA are required.


Professional Experience 

At least 3 years post qualification experience in credit control in the Accounting, Finance sectors.

Must have a good understanding of credit control, experience with accounting software, good presentation, and interpersonal skills.


Role overview

The Accounts receivables coordinator is responsible for the implementation and adherence to the Group Credit Policy, maximizing cash intake and minimizing Expected credit loss (formally called bad debt) exposure on debtors while operating within the credit policy by making the best commercial judgments on customers thus maximizing the company’s profitability.


Accountabilities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Follow up with Customers Service to ensure that receivables are collected within the credit terms extended.
  • Circulate the aged listing schedule to the management team with proposed action on the overdue and over-limit accounts.
  • Steward the Monthly Credit committee meeting and schedule.
  • Provide timely analysis and reports including customer credit review schedules to the business lines and other corporate credit reports.
  • Investigate High-Level alarm incidents and determine actions with CS and Sales 
  • Ensure that procedures relating to the collection, dining, and overdue management are in place
  • Ensures integrity of the accounts receivables accounts
  • Supporting the business to meet set objectives by accurate and timely receipting of cheques and bank deposits.
  • Reviewing any debit/credit note request to ascertain the accuracy of the information and then after key them in
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of customer accounts
  • Thoroughly and accurately prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Key in month-end closing journals in the system and follow up with OLA Energy Kenya for review and posting
  • Follow up with sales on timely collection of the outstanding balances by sending them weekly TAR reports
  • Timely process all the monthly credit analyses.


Compulsory Skills & knowledge:

  • At least 3 years post qualification experience in credit control in the Accounting, Finance sectors.
  • Strong communication, motivational, innovative, and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity 
  • Good planning, analytical, discipline, and organization skills 
  • Strong written & spoken English language


Nice to Have

  • Experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Microsoft teams, Planner, Yammer)
  • Experience with Accpac / SAGE 300 
  • Experience with remote collaboration and management


Remuneration:

  • A competitive monthly gross salary; payable 12 times per year at the end of every month.
  • Annual performance bonus if the criteria set by the policy are met by the company.
