Job Description

PATH is seeking a temporary Program officer for a period of seven (7) months, who will be responsible for the implementation of project activities in Lamwo, Kiryandongo and Kyegerwa districts. He/she should be able to provide a practical technical implementation of the project including capacity building, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement and monitoring and evaluation support to the project. The program officer will be based in Kampala with frequent travel to the field. He/she will report to Project Director-ACO.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Conduct district mapping to project sites and VHTs to participate in the program and identify relevant contextual issues pertinent to project implementation.

Conduct sensitization meetings with district, cultural, and refugee welfare committee leaders.

Provide regular update to the district and refugee camp leadership on project implementation

Participate in an intersectoral and interagency coordination meeting in respective refugee camps.

Conduct training of VHTs and health workers on self-injection with DMPA SC and provide post-training follow up as required.

Conduct on-site/on job mentorship and training of health workers and community health workers to ensure correct project implementation and use of tools.

Support the collection of monitoring data during field visits.

Support the implementation of community dialogues and provide summary reports.

Provide adequate supplies of self-injection requirements to project sites including DMPA SC.

Prepare implementation plans, budgets, and payment records for appropriately.

Write and submit supervision reports and follow up on action points from the supervision visits.

Write quarterly and annual donor reports on a timely manner.

Required Experience

A bachelor’s degree in public health, social science or related field

A background training in Nursing, Midwifery or clinical medicine is an added advantage.

A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in project implementation.

Experience in provision of Family planning services including supervision of Family planning projects

Demonstrated experience in training community health workers and health workers on family planning.

Experience and familiar working in refugee settings and or district Local governments is an added advantage.

Excellent organization, attention to detail, coordinating, and management skills.

Proficient in computer packages mainly Microsoft word, excel and power points

Willing and able to travel upcountry for 50% of the time.


Must have legal authorization to work in Uganda.
