Job Description

Department & Section:  Engineering - (Mechanical)

Reports To: Factory Manager

Location: Jinja, Uganda

MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

Carrying out and monitoring mechanical engineering services including installations, repairing, testing and successful running of machines ensuring safety and availability in line with set standards to achieve overall objective.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES FOR THIS POSITION 

1.      R: - Deliver & maintain EHS and regulatory standards

2.      Q:-  Achieve Quality targets

3.      D:- Ensure machine availability & Operational Efficiency

4.      C:-  Achieve Cost targets

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Carrying out the implementation the departmental strategy through processes and procedures/standard to achieve the company’s objectives.
  2. Adhering procedures and processes to ensure compliance of the Integrated Management System (Quality, EMS, OHS) and regulatory standards.
  3. Carry out on time preventive maintenance ensuring machine availability and prevent downtime in all value streams of the plant
  4. Ensuring that machine guards and doors are in place within the value stream to avoid hazards.
  5. Troubleshooting and carrying out mechanical repairs on machines to reduce the lead time to repair.
  6. Carrying out mechanical audits of machines and equipment and repairing including repairing and carrying out other corrective measures.
  7. Carrying out autonomous maintenance, adopting and applying engineering techniques, conducting tests, inspections, training and preparing reports.
  8. Performing machine format changes according to the production planning for customer satisfaction.
  9. Carry out on time preventive maintenance ensuring machine availability and prevent downtime in all value streams of the plant.
  10. Implementing best practices in manufacturing & respective areas of work.
