Job Description

OneWorld Health is an international organization that proves quality, affordable healthcare to people in need. We achieve our mission through the development of facility-based medical programs in East Africa using social enterprise models of development.  Through this model we are able to maximize sustainability and scalability while reaching underserved populations on the Continent. 

 
Our Level 3 health facility in Bweyale is our newest location and is growing rapidly with full laboratory and ultrasound services, in addition in to outpatient services.  We will be upgrading it to a level 4 health facility later this year, constructing an inpatient and maternity ward and adding addition medial staff.  
 
With this growth comes the need for strong leadership to oversee all aspects of the facility operations and business performance.   The Facility Manager is responsible for the efficient functioning, organizing and overseeing the health services delivery and daily activities of the hospital. He/she also manages staff, monthly budgets and communicates between departments to ensure smooth patient care with ability to handle any emergency situations effectively. As part of a strong team of leaders, this position plays a central role in carrying out the organization’s mission in Uganda.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Result 1: Lead and support management performance of the hospital
  • Support and supervise departments heads in the day to day operations of the facility.
  • Work with the Regional Administrator to develop a clear staff structure and staffing strategies for the facility that will drive long-term performance and provide clear reporting structure for the team.
  • Work with the HR manager to recruit and onboard new staff, ensuring that staff understand, and are a good fit, for the organization’s mission and culture.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports with support from the HR Manager.
  • Create clear workplans and monitor staff and project performance.
 
Key Result 2: Drive performance of the hospital through business excellence
  • Work with Country team to develop annual budgets and strategies for the facility
  • Support the facility accountant ensuring financial integrity of the hospital, and rigorously maximize cost efficiency across all departments
  • Drive revenue at the facility through the development of marketing, PR initiatives, and community engagement that promotes the hospital’s services.
  • Work with the Procurement committee to forecast needs and purchase equipment and supplies for the facility.
  • Ensure all medical and management policies and procedures are followed
  • Work with the Regional Administrator to ensure that the facility remains fully compliant with all national and local regulations
  • Assist senior leadership in the preparation of accurate and timely reports.
 
 Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Director.
 

Professional Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s (honors) degree business administration or related field
  • Post graduate education in Business Administration or related field desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital programs, with at least 3 in a senior leadership position.
  • Strong computer skill, especially MS Office and Google Suite
  • A team player with excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • A good command of both written and spoken English
  • Excellent Management skills
  • Able to build and develop capacity of others
